Step-by-step guide to creating gold foil text
(2 minute read)

One of the most desired effects in the crafting world right now is the gold foil look.

When cutting with the Cricut machine you're certainly able to cut actual gold foil. But what if you want to print a faux gold foil effect?

This guide will show you a quick and easy way to do just that!

1.
You're going to insert a  gold foil gradient that you have uploaded into Cricut. I used this gradient for this project.

2.
Then you're going to choose your font (I used Love Affair) and enter your text. Resize your text to fit within your gold foil gradient.

Size your text according to the gradient that you wish to use. Some might avoid the white part of the gradient if you intend to use this text on a white background. I included the white part because my background is grey.

3.
At this point you're going to select both your gradient and your text. When both are selected, you're going to slice them.

4.
Then delete the gradient
.

5.
And delete the original text.

Voila! You have a gold foil font for printing!

Here's an example of a wedding invite that I made using the gold foil text technique.

The Trick To putting a decal on Perfectly Straight and Perfectly Centered.

**If you've found yourself at our page because of a vinyl decal you ordered from Mapleroo Creations then we wanted to say thank you for your purchase!**

Trust me when I say this, I have ruined many-a-decals by simply pulling off the plastic backing and throwing my decal onto my car all willy-nilly. Which, isn't so bad because you can just peel it off the car. But the decal is now ruined, and I have to do the "re-order walk of shame"

I know it's not only me that does this, because I often get re-orders of the same decal, to the same person, roughly a week after it's been delivered to them. (So don't worry, you're not alone!)

I don't want to say that I've perfected the process, but I have pretty damn near perfected it.

Just follow these steps I've put together and *fingers crossed* you wont have to do that dreaded re-order walk of shame ever again!

Step 1.

Clean the surface area in which you intend to place your decal with soap and water (do not use windex or other sprays as they will make it difficult for the decal to adhere)

Step 2.

Rub the clear film on top with a credit card (or equivalent) to remove any air bubbles. At the same time, rub the credit card over the entire decal to ensure it's stuck to the clear film.

** if you ordered your decal from Mapleroo Creations, the business card included with your order could be used for this part **

Step 3. (And the part you've all been waiting for!)

At this point, most guides will tell you to remove the clear film entirely with the decal attached to it. But, I bring you a better way!
Instead, peel off, and fold, one of the top corners of the plastic backing.

Step 4.

Now you can use this method to place
your decal on the spot you would like. From here, you can move it around until it is straight and centered before committing to the spot!
(I know... Amazing!)

Step 5.

At this point, you're going to pull the plastic tab that you created slowly away from the decal while simultaneously pushing the decal into place.

Step 6.

Now that it's in place, run your hand along the decal with a decent amount of pressure.

Step 7.

Once you're satisfied, slowly peel the plastic cover away from the decal.

** If you find that the decal comes off with the plastic cover, simply place it back down and repeat step 6**

Voila! Enjoy your perfectly placed, and perfectly centered decal!
